Planning & Zoning

The Planning & Zoning Department is responsible for preparing and maintaining the City's Comprehensive Plan, administering and enforcing zoning and subdivision regulations, enforcing building codes, and carrying out ordinances for permits and inspection.  The department is also responsible for implementing community development and economic development programs, and filling the role of the City's redevelopment authority.

Building Permits Are Needed For:

New Home Construction (Fee based on square footage)

Finishing Basements (Fee based on square footage)
Additions to Homes (Fee based on square footage)
Major Remodels (Minimum Fee $25.00)
Fences ($25.00 Fee)

Sheds ($25.00 Fee)
Re-Roofing ($25.00 Fee)

Re-Siding ($25.00 Fee)

Window Replacement involving re-framing ($25.00 Fee)
Dumpsters & Portable Storage Units (No Charge to $25 Fee) Placement Permit located below.

Planning & Zoning Meeting Dates

All meetings are at 7:00 pm at Tea City Hall.

  • 2nd Tuesdays (January, February, March, October, November, December)
  • 2nd & 4th Tuesdays (April, May, June, July, August, September) 

The City of Tea had adopted the 2015 International Building, 2015 International Residential Code, 2015 Property Maintenance Code, 2015 Mechanical Code, and 2015 Existing Building Code. All Codes have been adopted with the City of Sioux Falls amendments.
